Colombian mountains, emeralds a global treasure

From deep within Colombia’s mountains, each stone tells a story of rarity, beauty and origin.

EMERALDS

A GLOBAL TREASURE

A brief history of emeralds

Emeralds have enchanted human civilisation for thousands of years, long before they became a cornerstone in luxury jewellery.

CLEOPATRAS EGYPT EMERALDS

Cleopatra's Egypt:

 500 BC

Emerald mining dates back to 500 BC in Egypt, where Cleopatra one of history’s earliest collectors of luxury gemstones personally owned and adored natural emeralds.

MUZO COLOMBIA EMERALDS

Indigenous Muzo: Colombia, 1100 AD

The Muzo people discovered rich emerald deposits in what is now Colombia, setting the stage for the country to become the global leader in rare emeralds.

PORTUGUESE BRAZIL EMERALDS

Portuguese explorers: Brazil, 16th century

Portuguese explorers uncovered emeralds in Brazil, expanding South America's role in the trade of natural green gemstones.

ZAMBIA EMERALDS

Zambia emerged as another major source, though Colombian emeralds remain unmatched for their colour, clarity, and geological uniqueness.

Crafted by the earth. Desired worldwide.

Colombian emeralds

MARKE LIDER EMERALDS

Market leader

Colombia accounts for roughly 70% of the global emerald supply.

COLOMBIAN EMERALDS

Geological uniqueness

Unlike emeralds from other regions, Colombian emeralds form in hydrothermal deposits, not magmatic rock.

EMERALDS EXCEPTIONAL

Unmatched chemistry

High levels of chromium and vanadium, and very low iron content, give these stones their vivid green colour and unique ability to hold light.

MUZO EMERALDS

Colour variety

Shades range depending on origin for example, Muzo stones are deep and warm; Chivor tends to be brighter and more transparent.
